Shrewsbury Basement Cinema (In Progress)
Converting unused basement storage into a dedicated home cinema is one of The Big Picture’s favourite kinds of project — and this Shrewsbury build is a great example of the potential hiding beneath an ordinary house. What was once dead space given over to boxes and bikes is being reborn as a private screening room, built from the ground up around comfort, acoustics, and immersive picture quality.

Basements bring their own challenges: low ceilings, limited natural light, and the need for careful damp-proofing and soundproofing before any cinema equipment goes near the room. The Big Picture’s experience with below-ground conversions means these obstacles become opportunities — a basement’s natural isolation from the rest of the house makes it one of the best possible locations for a true blackout cinema experience, free from light spill and external noise.
Shrewsbury Basement Cinema (In Progress)
Every stage of this Shrewsbury project is being handled in-house, from initial design through to the final calibration of projector, screen, and sound system. The result will be a luxury home cinema that takes full advantage of its underground setting — cool, quiet, and completely dedicated to film.
We’ll be updating this case study with full specification details and final photography as the Shrewsbury Basement Cinema nears completion. Watch this space for the finished result.
